KIGALI, September 12, 2025 - Rwanda's innovative approach to national development and its commitment to sharing locally-developed solutions received high praise from United Nations officials during the International Day for South-South Cooperation celebrations in Kigali, highlighting the nation's role as a beacon of African dignity and diplomatic excellence.

Rwanda's Excellence in Knowledge Sharing

Since its establishment in 2018, Rwanda Cooperation has emerged as a pivotal institution in showcasing the country's transformative journey, hosting more than 700 delegations from 70 countries. This achievement demonstrates Rwanda's dedication to technological leadership and innovation in areas such as digital services, decentralization, and governance.

The success of Rwanda's homegrown solutions has inspired numerous African nations to adopt similar approaches. Notable examples include:

  • Liberia's high-level delegation studying citizen-centered services
  • Guinea's implementation of Rwanda's e-procurement system (Umucyo)
  • Adaptations by Lesotho and Eswatini of various Rwandan systems

"What Rwanda is doing is showing how homegrown ideas can have a global impact," stated Ozonnia Ojielo, UN Resident Coordinator in Rwanda.

The nation plans to share more of its experiences at the upcoming 80th UN General Assembly in New York, further cementing its position as a leader in innovative governance and development approaches.
